Explorer Rest & Recreation June 9 Construction Update

June 9 Construction Update

Sorry for the recent lack of updates! We’ve been incredibly busy on-site, and we’re grateful for the overwhelming support from the Sandusky community. Many have noticed the progress and shared kind words on social media, cheering on our amazing construction team. We’ve had a fantastic addition with Dusty Boldman and his drywall crew. A major highlight is our new sign, co-designed by Brady Signs and Richardson Design, which looks even more impressive in person. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

Check Out Our Progress

We made some big changes recently! Here’s a shot of the plumbing situation we discovered—it was in poor shape, requiring extensive replacement of studs and sills. In May, we also said goodbye to several outdated elements to make way for new and improved features. Stay tuned as we continue to transform and upgrade the space!

Transformation and Milestones

While it was bittersweet to say goodbye to some nostalgic elements of the Mecca Motel, we’re excited to introduce fresh updates that will define the new identity of Explorer Rest & Recreation. Over the past month, we’ve added new siding, installed soundproof doors and windows, updated the interiors with new drywall, and introduced stylish door/window casings. A major highlight is the establishment of our new identity, including a dedicated food truck park. Check out some images of these exciting transformations and milestones!

Stay tuned for some exciting news about opening parts of our amazing property soon! Big thanks to
S & H Blind & Floors for providing stunning flooring, which we’ll showcase in our next blog post. We’re fortunate to have a fantastic local contractor team driving this project forward. We’ll leave you with some great shots from Grant Puckrin and the 19th UAS Precision team. Thank you all for your continued support and efforts!
